Up in the hills of Pamplona Alta in Lima, Peru, Tierra de Risas (Land of Laughter in English) is a non-profit organization that carries out educational and recreational workshops to provide women and children with new skills that will help them get ahead in life.
"Our mission is to give residents the tools to develop their skills and break paradigms in order to better their situation every day and inspire their children to grow up with the certainty that we can all better ourselves and be happy in this world."
ES: En los cerros de Pamplona Alta, en Lima, Perú, Tierra de Risas es una organización sin fines de lucro que lleva a cabo talleres educativos y recreativos para que las mujeres y los niños formen nuevas habilidades que les ayudará a salir adelante en la vida.

Eight years ago, a group of girlfriends began organizing Christmas events here; bringing toys, snacks, and cheer to children living in the slums of Pamplona Alta. They started out with only 15 children and had reached over 800 by Christmas of 2012. That's when these seven women decided to take it a step further.
"We met with the residents and leaders of the community, and with their consent and support, we formally created the organization" according to Carla Feijoo, director of the sewing workshop.
"Our mission is to give residents the tools to develop their skills and break paradigms in order to better their situation every day and inspire their children to grow up with the certainty that we can all better ourselves and be happy in this world."

ES: Hace ocho años, un grupo de amigas comenzó a organizar eventos de Navidad aquí; trayendo juguetes, refrigerios y alegría a los niños que viven en los pueblos jóvenes de Pamplona Alta. Empezaron con sólo 15 niños y habían llegado a más de 800 por Navidad de 2012. Eso es cuando estas siete mujeres decidieron dar un paso más allá.
"Nos reunimos con los pobladores y líderes de la comunidad, y con su consentimiento y apoyo, iniciamos formalmente la fundación", según Carla Feijoo, directora del taller de costura.
"Nuestra misión es dar a los pobladores las herramientas para desarrollar sus habilidades y romper paradigmas con el fin de mejorar su situación todos los días e inspirar a sus hijos a crecer con la certeza de que todos somos capaces de ser mejores y ser felices en este mundo."

For four hours every Sunday, these women devote their time to working on their sewing skills in order to get work that allows them to support their families and to hopefully one day build their own business. Tierra de Risas puts much love and time into leading this work, the women do everything else.
ES: El principal objetivo del taller de costura es proporcionar nuevas habilidades para mujeres y adolescentes todos los domingos. Durante cuatro horas se dedican a coser con el fin de conseguir un trabajo que les permita mantener a sus familias y con suerte un día a construir su propio negocio. Tierra de Risas pone mucho amor y tiempo a esta labor, y las mujeres hacen todo lo demás.

"To this day, we have built two sports fields and have various different types of workshops: recreational, educational and sports.
In recreational, we have dance workshops for children.
In educational, we have reading comprehension workshops utilizing internet resources and in sports, soccer and
basketball workshops.
Finally, we have the sewing production sewing workshop where this
month we will be selling our first branded product called M.V.: Mujeres Valientes (Bold Women)."
"This brand was the creation of one of our students," Feijoo tells us. "Starting this month, we will be selling some very nice chiffon blouses that feature exclusive designs. Fashions that suit all ages and sizes."
I met up with the ladies of the sewing workshop to photograph them in their blouses in order to sell them. The blouses cost S/. 35 PEN ($12.60 USD) and are available for order through their Facebook Business Page.
"This brand was the creation of one of our students," Feijoo tells us. "Starting this month, we will be selling some very nice chiffon blouses that feature exclusive designs. Fashions that suit all ages and sizes."

En el recreativo, tenemos talleres de danza para niños. En educación, talleres de comprensión de lectura virtual que utilizan los recursos de Internet y en los deportes, talleres de fútbol y básquet.
Por último, tenemos el taller de costura de costura donde la producción este mes será la venta de nuestro primer producto de marca llamado MV: Mujeres Valientes (Mujeres Valientes). "
"Esta marca fue la creación de uno de nuestros estudiantes", nos dice Feijoo. "Este mes estamos vendiendo unas lindas blusas de gasa con diseños exclusivos y muy combinables. Para toda edad, en todas las tallas y colores."
Me reuní con las mujeres del taller de costura para fotografiarlas en sus blusas con el fin de venderlos. Las blusas cuestan S /. 35 PEN y están disponibles para la orden a través de su página en Facebook aquí.
