Religious Wedding | Giselle & Gonzalo en Lima, Perú

Mi conexión con Giselle y Gonzalo fue tan fortuita como la noche en la que se conocieron.

Era junio de 2008, los amigos de Giselle estaban teniendo una reunion a la cual ella casi no llega. Por suerte llegó. Avanzó la noche según lo planeado y cuando entró Gonzalo a la reunion y la miró, ella supo que él era el indicado para ella.

"Sabía que él era el con quien me casaría cuando lo vi por primera vez," me dijo con una certeza serena. "Puede sonar tonto o cliché , pero realmente lo sabía."

Sin embargo, la forma en la que yo personalmente llegué a conocer a esta linda pareja fue al azar ...

El 6 de marzo 2011 fue mi segundo día viviendo en Lima, Perú, y el Carnaval de Barranco estaba en pleno apogeo. Envolví mi cámara en una bolsa de plástico y me uní a las masas cubierta en pintura a tirar globos de agua y bailar en el caos.  Si te interesa, puedes ver mis imágenes de ese día aquí.

Una de las muchas fotos que tomé fue a un chico que se llamaba Raúl.  Le vasiló tanto que la convirtió en su foto de perfil. Desde allí, empezó a seguirme en mi página de Facebook y, cuando su amigo Gonzalo le pidió recomendaciones de fotógrafos para documentar su boda, ¿quién crees que se le vino a la mente?

Una semana después, ya estábamos en mi departamento repasando el contrato de fotos. Un año después de eso (la semana pasada), estábamos revisando sus fotos del día de la boda y pensando en cuán al azar fue nuestro encuentro y que afortunado fue tomar fotos ese día en el Carnaval.

Otro ejemplo para ilustrar la importancia de salir y ser amable con quien te encuentras; nunca se sabe a quién conocerás.

Giselle y Gonzalo, ya saben la contenta que estoy de haber estado con ustedes en este día tan especial y maravilloso. Su adoración y la paz entre ustedes irradia y es única. Les deseo todo lo mejor en su nueva vida juntos.

{Translated from top} My connection to Giselle & Gonzalo was almost as serendipitous as the night they first met.

It was June of 2008 and her friends were having a get-together that she almost make it to. Luckily, she arrived as planned and as soon as Gonzalo walked into the party and gazed at her, she just knew -- he was IT. 
"I knew he was the one I would marry the moment I saw him," she told me with a calm certainty. "It may sound silly or cliché, but I really did."

The way that I personally came about meeting this lovely pair was a lot more random...

March 6th, 2011 was my was my second day living in Lima, Peru, and Carnaval de Barranco was in full swing. I wrapped up my camera in a plastic bag and joined the paint-clad masses in a slew of water balloon fights and paint bucket flinging mayhem. You can see my pictures from that day here, they are pretty fun to look through. Jus' saying.

One of the pictures I snapped that day was of a guy named Raul who dug the photo so much that he made it his profile pic and started following my FB page. Two years later, his friend Gonzalo asks him for recommendations of photographers to shoot his upcoming wedding.

Boom. He links us up and a week later we're in my apartment going over the wedding photo contract. A year after that (last week) we're reviewing their wedding day photos and thinking about how random and fortunate it was that I took photos that day at Carnaval.

Yet another example to illustrate the importance of going out and being friendly to whom you across -- you never know what great things or people it could lead to.
Giselle and Gonzalo, You already know how delighted I am to have been with you on this special day in your lives. Your adoration and peacefulness with one another radiates from within and I wish nothing but the best for you both in your new life together.
